“𝙄’𝙢 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙨𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙮,” 𝙄 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙙, 𝙛𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙨 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙡𝙖𝙥 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜.

My therapist looked at me, calm and steady, and said, “𝙈𝙖𝙮𝙗𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙚𝙡𝙨𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙨 𝙨𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙.”

That moment cracked something open in me.

My anger wasn’t shameful … it was sacred. My anger wasn’t destructive … it was directive.

It pointed me back to the places I’d tried to bury—the story behind the anger (and endless grief) I hadn’t yet told.

The deliberate harm and manipulation I experienced in the church.

The silence.

The shaming.

The victim blaming.

The cover-ups.

The spiritual abuse dressed up as authority.

When I went looking for help, nothing existed. So I had to turn to God alone.

And He met me in the wilderness, outside the system that failed me and did not provide the safety and sacredness it promised.

Piece by piece, He rebuilt what others had tried to destroy.

My healing didn’t happen in a sanctuary.

It happened in silence.

In story.

In fire.

𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻.

And with my remaining time here on earth, I know what I’m here to do:

I’m here to amplify voices like yours.

The waymakers.

The challengers.

The truth-tellers.

The storytellers.

The ones who see what’s broken and choose to boldly build what’s needed for revival and reclamation of the church.
